WagerMate is currently a testnet preview — all stakes use test tokens with no real-world value. Nothing you stake today is money. The disclosures below are published in advance so the risks are visible before real-money staking is ever offered.
When real-money staking is offered: every staked match risks the full amount you stake. Never stake what you cannot afford to lose.
Chess outcomes depend on skill — and the other player may be more skilled than you. Ratings are informational, not guarantees.
Once a match settles on-chain, payment to the winner is final. It cannot be reversed by WagerMate or anyone else.
Stakes sit in a published smart contract that WagerMate cannot control beyond four actions: pay player A, pay player B, refund both depositors, or cancel an unfunded wager. If a wager is never fully funded, anyone can trigger cancellation and refund after the funding deadline — recovery of those deposits does not depend on WagerMate existing. If a fully funded match ends without settlement, the deposits remain locked in the escrow until the oracle settles or refunds them; the contract's design means those deposits can never be redirected anywhere else, but the oracle acting is currently the only path to releasing a funded wager. We state this openly.
Stake only what you can afford to lose, and stop if play stops being fun. If you want your account closed or restricted, email founder@wagermateapp.com and we will do it. Real-money staked play, when offered, will not be available while you are physically located in: Arizona · Arkansas · Connecticut · Delaware · Florida · Indiana · Louisiana · Montana · New York · South Carolina · South Dakota · Tennessee · Wyoming · the United Kingdom.
No WagerMate service of any kind is available in regions under comprehensive U.S. sanctions: Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.
Physical presence, not residence, is the test. Free (unstaked) play is available everywhere except the sanctioned regions above. This list is versioned and may change as laws change or as legal review proceeds; the version stamp above tells you which list you are reading.
Registration requires an affirmation that you are 18 or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher). Additional identity and location verification will be required before real-money staked play is offered. Underage accounts are closed.
Staking on your own chess match is competition, not investing. Digital tokens can fluctuate in value; WagerMate offers no financial products and nothing here is investment advice.
