Testnet preview — test tokens, no real value

Terms of Service

Version v1-2026-07-25 · Effective July 25, 2026

Self-published v1 — these Terms have not yet been reviewed by legal counsel. A formal legal review is scheduled as the platform grows. We publish them now so the rules are visible from day one.

1. Who we are

WagerMate is operated by WagerMate LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("WagerMate," "we," "us"). Contact: founder@wagermateapp.com · WagerMate, 400 N Tampa St Ste 1550 PMB 834549, Tampa, FL 33602-4719, USA.

2. What WagerMate is

WagerMate is a competitive chess platform where registered members play rated head-to-head chess matches. Members may optionally attach equal stakes to a match using digital tokens, held by an independent smart-contract escrow until the match resolves. WagerMate is a skill-competition platform: match outcomes are determined by the players' chess skill, not by chance.

3. Current status: testnet preview

All staking on WagerMate today uses test tokens with no real-world value, on a test network. No real-money staking is currently offered. These Terms describe real-money staking so the rules are known in advance; provisions about real-money stakes apply only if and when real-money staking is offered, which will be clearly announced in the product.

4. Chess is a game of skill

Outcomes of WagerMate matches are determined by the relative skill of the two participants, who compete personally in their own matches. WagerMate offers no games of chance, no house-banked games, no betting on third-party events, and no lottery or sweepstakes mechanics. Stakes are voluntary, equal, and exchanged only between the two competing players.

5. How stakes work — WagerMate never holds your money

Details and a verify-it-yourself guide are published on our Transparency page.

6. Our revenue

WagerMate's revenue is flat membership subscription fees. WagerMate takes no percentage, rake, fee, or cut of any stake, ever. Membership fees are due regardless of match outcomes and are not wagers or entries into any prize competition.

7. Where staked play is available

Real-money staked play, when offered, will be available only where lawful. You may not participate in real-money staked matches while physically located in a Restricted Jurisdiction — the current list is published in our Disclosures. Physical presence, not residence, is the test. Location screening will gate real-money staked play before it is offered, and staked play will be denied by default where your location cannot be established. Free (unstaked) play is available everywhere except comprehensively sanctioned regions (see Disclosures).

8. Age

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to register. By registering you affirm that you meet this requirement. WagerMate may require additional verification, and will require it before real-money staked play.

9. One account, your own play, fair play

One account per person. You may stake only on matches you personally play. Engine or outside assistance, account sharing, collusion, and deliberate manipulation of results are prohibited. At the platform's current scale, staked matches are subject to human review, and match records are published verifiably on the Transparency page. A match found to involve prohibited conduct may be voided (both stakes returned) or settled for the innocent player, and the offending account closed. Stakes are never forfeited to WagerMate — the escrow's design makes that impossible.

10. Wallets and keys

WagerMate never asks for, receives, or stores private keys. You control your wallet and are responsible for its security. Signing a wallet-link message costs nothing and sends no transaction.

11. Risk

Staked play involves risk of losing your full stake. Blockchain transactions are irreversible. See the Risk, Responsible Play & Eligibility Disclosures, incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Acceptance records

When you register, and when you accept an updated version of these Terms, we record the version you accepted, the time of acceptance, and your attestation that you are 18 or older.

13. Disputes and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Contact founder@wagermateapp.com first — most issues can be resolved directly. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the platform is provided "as is," and WagerMate's total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid WagerMate in the twelve months before the claim or US $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

14. Changes and termination

These Terms are versioned. We will announce material changes in the product; continued use after a new version takes effect constitutes acceptance, and re-acceptance may be required in-product. You may stop using WagerMate at any time; email us to close your account. We may suspend or close accounts for violations of these Terms. Any stake already in escrow when an account closes is resolved only through the four oracle actions in Section 5 — settlement or refund, never confiscation.
